Teaching methods for the classroom

International Workshops

In a constantly as well as rapidly changing world, the demands placed on teachers are immense. One task of the university is to prepare future teachers for a world of tomorrow, in which they can then fully and globally educate and prepare their pupils.

One aim of our UNITE-project is to equip our students for the globalized and internationalized world, raising their international awareness and orientation. By intensifying our international cooperation, we increase the number and variety of offers for students to prepare them for their teaching careers. We are happy to present our new workshop series for the winter semester 2021/22. With these four workshops,  we provide a solid methodological toolbox for the specific needs inside the classroom. You will be equipped with approaches to different issues such as gender-sensitivity, anti-racism, diversity management and teaching techniques in the international and intercultural classroom(s). You will gain international and intercultural skills without leaving your own city for study purposes.

The workshops are open to students from all our international partner universities as well as to students from the University of Cologne. Places are limited but participation is free of charge.

Each month we offer a different workshop that will be conducted by an expert from a renowned external institute. You can find the topics and instructors below. Pick your workshop and write an email to international-workshops(at)uni-koeln.de with the following details: name, status (Bachelor/Master), university, country.

For each workshop you will receive a certificate. If you participate in all four workshops you will receive the complete certificate International@home. A short essay must then be written for this comprehensive certificate.

The workshops will always take place from 3 to 5.30 pm (CET)
