International Summer School 2024

Well-Being in the Teaching Profession: International Perspectives

26 – 30 August 2024

Lately, teacher shortages around the world have called public attention to the matter of teacher well-being.

High workloads, a lack of recognition and little professional support contribute to an increasing dissatisfaction among many teachers. Both as a preventative as well as an intervening measure, well-being needs to play a crucial role in teachers’ careers and teacher education.

With a Summer School revolving around "Well-Being in the Teaching Profession", we are going to approach this important topic from a broad range of perspectives.

Participants will...

  • explore various dimensions of well-being in general, and teacher well-being in particular,
  • be encouraged to find ways to increase their own well-being as a (prospective) teacher,
  • learn about possible ways to help transform schools into happy and motivating environments for everyone,
  • engage with other international students and teaching professionals,
  • be part of the change they want to see in schools.

The Summer School is part of the project UNITE Cologne and organised in collaboration with EUniWell, teff Academy and our partner universities from across the globe.

It will take place in Cologne (Germany) and is aimed at student teachers of all subjects enrolled in either Bachelor's or Master's degree programmes at one of our UNITE, EUniWell or teff partner universities.

International participants are kindly asked to register by 16 June. Participants from Cologne and German universities, please register by 30 June at the latest.
